Turning Waste into Clean Energy for Victoria

Recovered Energy is developing a next-generation waste gasification facility in Laverton North that transforms landfill waste into reliable, renewable electricity, supporting jobs, reducing emissions, and powering over 40,000 homes.

Our Facility in Laverton North

We're developing one of Victoria’s most advanced Waste-to-Energy plants, fully approved to process 240,000 tonnes per year of residual waste. Using proven gasification technology, the facility will deliver 20+ MW of electricity, enough to power over 40,000 homes, while cutting landfill emissions and recovering valuable materials.

Highlight stats:

  • Fully permitted under Victoria’s Waste-to-Energy Cap

  • Construction planning underway

  • 230,000 tpa of waste diverted from landfill

  • 20 MW+ of clean energy generated

  • 400+ construction jobs, 30+ ongoing roles

Why It Matters

Waste-to-Energy plays a crucial role in sustainable waste management by handling materials that can’t be recycled. Through advanced thermal treatment, it transforms residual waste into clean electricity while recovering metals and producing reusable by-products like aggregate, helping reduce landfill use and lower emissions.

Highlight stats:

  • Cuts methane emissions from landfill

  • Produces reliable baseload renewable energy

  • Creates local jobs and economic value

  • Supports a circular economy

  • Compliant with Victoria’s environmental standards
